Love is an enigma. One day, you have that special person (you know, the one who makes you smile just thinking about them) in your life, and the next day they are gone. When you go through times without having a special someone in your life, it can actually feel okay. After all, not having to be attached to another human being in a romantic fashion can be very freeing. This is especially true if you have been on your own for more than a few months to a few years.
However, the feeling of being alone that accompanies the breakup of a romantic relationship can actually be quite awful. It can feel almost like a piece of you is physically missing. Of course, as they say, “time heals all wounds.” But, there is absolutely no solace in this old saying if you are experiencing the acute pain of a breakup right now.
If you are faced with this type of breakup situation, you basically have two options before you: either get busy getting over him or her as fast as you can, or do what you can to try to get back together. Whatever you decide to do, though, choose wisely and choose decisively. There is nothing worse than being in that weird limbo state between wanting your ex back and trying at the same time to get over them. It just doesn’t work.
